Go GREEN

In recent years many people that attend the coupon classes have asked if there are coupons for Green products and organics. My response has always been the same, there is a coupon for everything if you are willing to take the time to look for it. Below you will find present links to organic foods and products.

I recently read on a Facebook fan page, that they aren't any healthy coupons out there. I happen to have 20 copies of this particular coupon for Mystic pizza. This is an all natural pizza and delicious! I happen to pick these up the other day at Bi-Lo, they were on sale B1G1. The price came out to be $2 each before the coupon. My favorite is the this one, Spinach and Roasted Red Pepper. I also picked up a 4 cheese with Tomato, Pepperoni, and fire roasted veggie. These are white pies, so if you have problems with acidic foods they are terrific!

I have also been told that organic coupons can be found in your local specialty stores. They are found on tear pads next to the items. As you come across the coupons, take a few with you, so that you will have them in the future. Don't take the whole pad, that is just greedy. Earth Fare, one of our local health food stores offers printable e-mail coupons.

In the process of going green, remember to stop using the plastic bags, instead invest in reusable bags. My personal favorites are the large bags sold at ALDI. They sell for $1.99 but the are extremely strong and durable.

There are stores that will offer a price break to customers that use their own bags instead of the store's bags. Target is one that does, they offer five cents per bag.

Do you really need to buy organic?

The misconception that we must buy organic in order to stay healthy is just not true. You can save a great deal of money by only buying certain organic things. The biggest thing that we are trying to avoid with organic fruits and veggies are the pesticides that are sprayed on them. If you are buying bananas, you do not need to buy organic, because they have a thick outer peeling,

Also organic meats tend to tug at our purse strings....stop it today. Do not be fooled by packaging that states Hormone Free. By USDA and FDA standards it is illegal for any meat to contain hormones. The key is to look for Antibiotic Free, this is what causes the most harm to humans. The antibiotic filled meat, is larger, and is causing us as human being to be more immune to antibiotics. It is also causing our children to develop a lot sooner, and there have been cases of little girls beginning puberty as early as 5 yrs old.

If you are willing to spend more for a better product make sure that you are getting a better product and not just false advertising.
