  1. I work at Walmart here in Asheville, so between my 10% discount and coupons I get super good deals! My latest...bought bottle of Wisk, 2 boxes of Swiss Miss hot chocolate, 1-100 ct Excedrin migraine. After coupons of 2$ off hot chocolate, 2$ off Wisk and $5.99 off Excedrin, and after my discount I only paid $2.95 for all these things!!!

  2. Great haul!! Please feel free to share those clearance and non advertised sales with us!! How do you like the new company policy? Accepting competitor coupons, had many problems? I have not tried it yet, I look forward to the deals though.

  3. I think there is some confusion on our policy. I gave up on explaining on another blog site that I frequent, they were just wanting to bash Wal-mart instead.
Our policy is that we will match competitor's advertised price. We still don't take their coupons however. From what I've seen, there was a typo in one of our weekly ads recently that has caused mass confusion! Our online coupon policy says that we will take store coupons as well as manufacturer coupons. Folks have misinterpreted this as meaning "other store" coupons. It does not. It is referring to our own...which we rarely have to begin with. We do of course take internet printed coupons, however on a per store basis that may be limited. Here in Asheville, we no longer take any "free" internet coupons, due to the amount of fraudulent activity that occurs with online couponing. I know that Ingles will not take those free internet coupons either because of this. Let me clarify, we will take a BOGO internet coupon...just will not take a totally free one. I've noticed with my couponing that alot of companies now are mailing out the free coupons. I'm guessing they too have realized the problem we encounter with printing them off and trying to find a store willing to accept them. I hope this all helps...if not let me know!!

  4. Thanks for that, there is still a lot of confusion. From what I understood from another couponer, there was a memo that pictured the competitors coupons that could be accepted. I had yet to try, because I spoke with a manager and was told no, that was not the case. It is hard to use the Free coupons that manufacturers send out, especially the ones mailed from Facebook pages.

  5. I have never had a problem using the free coupons I've gotten in the mail. I always use those at Walmart too of course. In fact, my original post about the Excedrin, that was my free coupon that I had signed up for from the internet. Difference with those being that you can tell they weren't "home printed". They have watermarks and such on them, showing that they are legit.
I can tell you one competitors coupon experience we had in our store. This lady, she argued and argued with us that we are supposed to take them. Turns out that she normally shops at the Sylva Wal-mart and for whatever reason, the store manager out there ONE time let her use another store's coupons. So she came to our store insisting that Walmarts across the board does it. All store managers will "bend" the rules to please a customer, contrary to popular opinion. I think some use that to their advantage. But it's common sense really. Any retailer will be reimbursed for the manufacturer coupons it has taken by customers. Reimbursed by the manufacturer who issued the coupons. However, Target is not going to reimburse Wal-mart for taking their coupons, neither is Walgreens or any other store! When a store manager makes that exception to satisfy a customer, he knows he will be out that money period. Just as those coupons are "cash" to us, they are treated as "cash" at store level too.

  6. Understandable, all coupons are cash. I teach that in my Saving Seminars. The fact that it was said to be a "misprint" (a manager in South Carolina has confirmed the ad is correct). I am not sure, I think that the concept was there, and it was meant to attract more customers and beat the competitor. The backlash was oh, we are going to loose money rather than make it. However, some stores are accepting the competitor coupons. I don't know if it is a one time thing, but the reports are coming in on coupon blog sites. There isn't much consistency, even between our local Wal-marts. Weaverville is totally different than Bleachery Blvd. (policy, and sometimes sale wise). Whatever the reason, it did not look good. I hope that it is cleared up and everyone gets on the same page, if some couponers are allowed to do it and others are not, the press will not be good.

  7. I've been searching the internet and I've just decided everyone hates Walmart! haha From what I'm seeing now, Walmart says on their Facebook page that they did have a misprint concerning competitor coupons. I also think there is confusion in, for example, us "accepting" a Target coupon versus us "matching" that coupon price. That's what we do. If Target puts out a coupon that has a specific price on it..say, with coupon 2 liter Pepsi is 99 cents. Well, we will just sell you the pepsi for 99 cents. We don't need to use the Target coupon to do that. We are just price matching. We do however, require seeing the current copy of Target's ad, which would have that coupon in it...or just see the coupon itself. Does that make sense? We won't however, honor price matching for target coupons that are just "cents off". Ok, this has been fun, but I think I am tired! I seriously got so upset over at another blog site over this! Walmart gets such a bad rep, sometimes it's deserved(believe me it is!) but sometimes it's not. And for the record I do shop around. Just yesterday I did the CVS Pepsi 12 pk deal and got back 10 extra bucks! And I used my quarterly extra bucks of 7.50 for the initial purchase so we are sitting pretty in sodas during this snowstorm!! There are honestly just some things that you can't find cheaper than Walmart. Progresso soups are selling at my store for 1.25 a can...at Ingles they are 2.48! And using that 1.00 off 4 cans at walmart is much better deal for me. Ingles was advertising they had some on sale for 1.00, but it was very few, basic flavors. Ours was all flavors, all varieties. I am so rambling!!! Ok I'm done...promise!!

  8. Thanks, I wanted you as an employee, more familiar with policy to explain it. That is the confusion, it is basic price matching. I worked at Walmart a few years ago, I loved it, just for the sales and clearance lol. You have to shop around to get the great deals, every store has a "loss leader" to get you in the door. That doesn't mean that you should pay extra for milk because they are selling eggs for 69cents (just an example) I wish walmart would do a double day, wishful thinking lol.
