I know I know I know, if you live in our fair city, you know that the Harris Teeter on Hendersonville Rd is priced higher than most grocery stores in the area. A huge perk in this store, the fresh seafood. Or at least that is what I have been told, I am not a fan of seafood.
Well first lets go over the coupon policy, courtesy of the Harris Teeter website. You will find the coupon policy in this font, but I will give examples in this font.
Harris Teeter Coupon Acceptance Policy
General
•We accept coupons that have not passed their expiration date for use; we can not accept any expired coupons. If you would like to pay it forward your expired coupons can be mailed to military families overseas at their commisaries. They are allowed to use the coupons up to six months after the expiration date, however they do need time to distribute the coupons, it is better if they are recently expired.
•We accept only one manufacturer coupon per purchased item. You may purchase more than one of the same item however you may only use one coupon per item, and up to 3 of the same coupons per transaction.
•We do not accept coupons on items not purchased. This is a given.
•Coupons must be presented at time of purchase; we can not return money for coupons not used. This may seem like a strange statement, however there are stores that will give you the face value of the coupon back in cash, if you bring in your receipt and the coupon after making the purchase.
•Coupons presented and items purchased must match exactly; size, variety, flavor, etc. Be aware of your coupons, make sure to read if there are any specific instructions, i.e. save $1 on 2 items. Or if the coupon statesyou must buy a 32 oz box of cereal, you will not be able to purchase the 18 oz box instead.
•We uphold any purchase stipulations set forth by product manufacturer. Coupons that state Not To Be Doubled will not be double by Harris Teeter, or if the coupon states Only one Item per Transaction, or customer.
•We accept only one coupon for Buy One Get One Free items. HT rings each item up at half price, so you may purchase the two items, just in two seperate transactions that way you will be able to use a coupon on each item. Giving you the most bang for your buck!
•We accept coupons for items only of equal or more value; we do not give cash back. A great example of this is during triples week. coupons with a face value of up to .99 will be tripled. Lets say that you have a 50ft roll of Reynolds wrap that sells at our store for $1.89. I have a 75cets coupon that could potentially triple to $2.25, but not at Harris Teeter. Since they do not allow overages, or cash back the coupon will ring in at the initial 75 cents then the next line will read a discount of $1.14. The grand total for that coupon is $1.89 the equal value of the item.
•Sales tax is paid by customer at full retail. If you retail value of the food was $45, but you widdled that down to $2, you still pay the tax on $45.
Doubling
•We accept 20 double coupons per day per customer/household with VIC card; all others redeemed at face value. No orders may be separated that would allow the 20 coupon limit to be exceeded.
•We double manufacturer’s coupons up to face value of $0.99; with total amount not to exceed $1.98 or entire retail of item; whichever is less. Again if the value is higher than the cost of the item, you will simply get the item for free without any overages.
•We double up to three identical items with manufacturer coupon; additional coupons for like item will be honored at face value. You may need five of the same item, either split the transactions, or pick up on another trip.
•No competitor coupons will be doubled or tripled. Below you will find a rule that states we do not take competitor’s coupons for money off specific items, which is confusing to me because the rule not do double or triple gives the assumption that they will be accepted at face value.
•In the event of triple coupons, up to 20 coupons will be tripled per day per customer/household with VIC card; all others redeemed at face value. No orders may be separated that would allow the 20 coupon limit to be exceeded. If you have more than 20, those will be hand keyed at face value.
Internet Coupons
•We gladly accept internet manufacturer’s coupons for product; however no “free” product internet coupons are accepted.
•With the purchase of two like manufacturer’s products, we accept two internet coupons, per store, per day. This is to minimize fraud, most internet coupons have a two print threshhold.
•We do not accept internet coupons that do not appear to be originals or that won’t scan. Each internet coupon has an unique code that will scan at the register, this is how they are tracked. If the coupon does not scan, it is often times a photocopy, which is coupon fraud. This rule is to protect the store, to ensure than they will be reimbursed for the face value of the coupon.
Competitor’s Coupons
•We gladly accept local competitors’ circular or direct-mail coupons for MONEY OFF THE TOTAL ORDER; we do not take competitor’s coupons for money off specific items.
•We do not accept any internet coupons from other retailers.
Rainchecks
•Rainchecks never expire and are accepted at any Harris Teeter store.
•We do not issue rainchecks for coupon items that may be out of stock or for “while supplies last” items.
In other words, get there the first day for triples week because they will not issue rain checks, and our local store does not restock during the week of the sale.
•We reserve the right to limit raincheck quantities based on product availability and advertised limits.
•Rainchecks can be written for a limit of three unless otherwise stated in the ad.
Scan Guarantee
•Our scan guarantee states "If an item scans higher than the shelf tag or sign, you will receive one like item free, excluding alcohol and tobacco."
Harris Teeter reserves the right to limit quantities in coupon usage, as well as products and to amend our policies as we deem appropriate.
75% of all coupon users are people who fall into the $20,000-50,000 income bracket.
