How much is my grocery bill?

It is natural to wonder, well if she saves around $600/month, how much is she spending? I normally spend anywhere from $200-$400 a month on groceries, after my savings. Mind you that feeds myself and three children. The fluctuation is due to summer, when they are out of school and eat lunch and snack at home. We eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies, so keep in mind those are higher end items that I don't have coupons for.

At any given time I normally bring home $1000 worth of groceries in a month's time, my shelves are overflowing and I don't make those costly nightly runs to the grocery store.

I have a great base that I build upon each trip. This aids in my savings and allows for fresh produce. My base consist of condiments, like ketchup, mayo, mustard, all types of salad dressings and marinades, spices, canned foods and boxed meals like hamburger helper.

You may say well what is she buying if not condiments, and non perishables. The answer is meats for the week, if not only a couple of days, and I will explain that in another section. Fruits and veggies, since they do not have an extended shelf life I buy enough for 5-7 days. Mainly because I take advantage of every sales circular, each week. I do not buy a months worth of food in one trip.
